#4.06 Come Back... Be Here

"In the wink of an eye, the easter trip that I had been eagerly waiting for was gone. Now, I just wished that somehow I possessed the ability to turn back time. =( "

The last day of semester was also the first day of my Belgium trip. After completing my hospital placement around noon, I rushed back home to have a quick shower. Luckily, CH and Vivian had already packed my lunch for me so I didn't have to starve for the whole journey to the airport! When we reached Brussels, it was already night time but the hotel was so much more comfortable than I had expected. Needless to say, me being me, I slept like a log through the night after a long tiring day.

The next morning, we walked around for a while before joining the free walking tour around the city. I would say that Brussels was my favourite city in Belgium due to its good food especially the waffles, chips, chocolate and ice-cream! Also, I knew a little bit more about its history thanks to the tour guide even though I was not paying attention to him most of the time.

Ikiboya??
Beautiful view at the Parc Royal. =)
Unexpected rainbow that we stumbled upon!
All of us on the first day!!

Before the tour guide explained the city's funny "stories" and history, I was like "okay, this is just another city with buildings similar to the other cities in Europe." However, after his explanation, I realized that every design and structure of each building was there for a reason. Some of them were so damn obvious that I felt like slapping myself for not noticing them. I guessed the saying "Tak Kenal Maka Tak Cinta" was true all along. After the Tintin and Smurfs explanation, I totally fell in love with this interesting city. =)

Tintin!!
At Kunstberg/ Mont des Arts.
At Parc du Cinquantenaire.
Belgium fries that free deep fried twice!

After this trip, I suddenly had the urge to try travelling on my own.  I knew that I had always wondered why anyone would love to travel solo, and it was definitely the last thing I wanted to do in my whole life but now I wanted to know how it felt like to be alone and enjoy the view. It might go all wrong and fail miserably because I had never planned anything on my own before but hopefully I would at least gain some experience from it. However, it's not gonna happen in the near future. Maybe someday when I'm less clumsy and forgetful but now it's definitely on my things-I-must-do-before-I-die list, not that I had such a list. =P

In front of a small shop in Antwerp!
At Stadhuis, Antwerpen.
With the Li-O-lait's friendly owner who made
excellent filter coffee that I had been searching for forever!
At Gruuthuse Museum. =P
On the green, green grass.
First time to see cute little ducklings. =P
Waterzooi, the signature local dish.
Belgian waffles with whipped cream.
Seriously the best crepes that I had ever tasted!
Best bagel in town!!

Study break had officially begun. I was still not in the mood to begin my revision although I knew that time was running out as every second passed by. I guessed I had to push myself to work hard for these whole month for the coming exams. On the other hand, Katy Perry's concert was coming in May but at the same time I kinda hoped that it didn't have to come so soon as the dispensing exam would be right after it!

Urghh..seriously I was totally not the type who loved to crack my brain and study hard but I reckoned I was left with no choice now. So looking forward towards my summer holidays this year! =)

#4.05 Begin Again

Thought it would be over by now, but it won't stop.
Thought that I would self-destruct, but I'm still here.
My mama taught me better than that.
After all of the darkness and sadness, soon comes happiness.

#1 Bad News

The old me would have first brushed it off and only given in to tears a few days later when fear and other emotions set in . But now, somehow I began to understand that life had to go on despite of everything. It was easier said than done of course, especially when it involved someone that you loved most in this whole wide world. Surely, it would have been a lot easier if I were still a kid, but I realized that the responsibility was shifting slowly.  However, sometimes I was not even sure if I could, or ever would be strong enough to do anything. Therefore, it never failed to amaze me how you could manage to put on a brave face for everyone.

"Survivor" was basically my life anthem for these couple of weeks that was filled with bad news from overseas. It had literally picked me up and saved my life. Anyway, I knew I was gonna make it and survive this shit no matter how. But I guessed I was lucky enough to have someone to be there for me and say things that I need to hear to ease this pain. =)

With spring comes hope, I pray and hope with all my heart. =)

#2 A Lovely Thursday

2.1 Met and chatted with a lovely old British couple when CH and I was having lunch at Jamie's Italian.  The wife started the conversation and it was lovely to see that they were still willing to spend time for each other after all the years. Before they left, they even told us that one day we must make our families and country proud.

2.2 Skyped with one of my best friends recently and I commented on how sweet it was when a guy was willing to go through all the troubles and change all his plans for a girl. His logical respond and further stories plus a recent incident somehow made me rethink my whole perspective. I guessed couples who made it together to the very end until their hair turned white were the ones who deserved all the "Awws".

#3 IKEA

Took a bus (two actually) to IKEA recently out of fun and also partly for the meatballs. Shamelessly I had to admit that I was in love with its unlimited refills of carbonated drinks. I hadn't had much since we came to UK and it was absolutely satisfying in a way.

Watched Captain America after that and again shamelessly I had to confess that I really wished to look as flawless as all the characters in the movie. Sorry if I sounded vain but I reckoned pretty much every one who watched this movie would at least had thought about it for 0.0001 seconds. Anyone who didn't was either A) a big fat liar or B) a big fat liar or C) a big fat liar unless you were Anne Hathaway or Henry Cavill.

Cloudy and a little bit rainy with a chance of meatballs.
The meatballs were so out of focus so I didn't know how to caption this photo.
Big kid who was only happy if he got his candies!

#4 Happy Day

Spent a relaxing day walking around the lake in campus with Phey while CH went jogging and Carmen joined us later. Due to my own laziness, I had been rushing coursework for a few weeks in a row so I felt like walking on air after the submission of Pharmacology report. It had been quite a while since I felt burden-free. But I knew that this feeling wouldn't last long since study break was coming real soon! =(

Had Indian food for dinner with the rest of the smurfies and the tandoori chicken was to die for. Okay, that was a bit exaggerated. No one would ever die for a tandoori chicken, or any chicken, or cow or whatever.

Busy catching Pokemon and putting report second.
Completed it before coursework submission!!
They had finally turned a little bit pinkish. =)
Happy or crazy expressions??!!
Found a hidden space that we had never explored. =)
Leopard skin again??

#5 Nottingham's best burger!

Today marked another happy day because I had finally tried out the restaurant that every one was recommending to every one!! Okay, that was again slightly exaggerated. Even the policeman knew where it was even though it was located in a secluded part of the city. We walked to and fro in a few wrong directions before we found it eventually but it definitely lived up to its hype.

Cheated on chocolate with  The Jamie Blackmore.

Survived another long week. And gonna do so in the few coming ones. =)
