# 3.13 The Year Of Hopping Bunny

"It is again the time when people start donning the auspicious colour red that symbolizes prosperity and abundance, the time when you know new year songs were booming loud even when you're deaf, but most importantly the time to go home. =P "

After what felt like forever, the long anticipated colourful festival was finally here. On New Year's eve, all the family members returned and gathered in Gram's house. Grams was busy preparing for the night in the kitchen with the maid since morning. We had steamboat with lots and lots of yummy food as usual as it was kind of the tradition in our family. After dinner, Grams served my favourite dessert. It was simply the best that I've ever tasted. =)

The sweet soup with lotus seeds and longans by Grams.

After the reunion dinner, all my cousins and siblings began to unpack all the firecrackers bought (This is also a tradition but only limited for kids). What would CNY be without any firecrackers?  It was illegal but mind you, it was lunar new year. A police car on patrol passed by right in front of us when we're playing halfway but luckily they did nothing to stop us. In addition to that, we also BBQ-ed our own sweet potatos. As the clock struck 12, lots of fireworks shot across and lit up the dark night sky of Alor Star, marking the beginning of a whole new year besides lighting up the hearts of billions of Chinese all around the world.

Firecrackers filling the air.
Brighter than the moon, literally.

The next day, we set out to Cameron at the crack of dawn. If there's one thing that I hate about the lunar new year, it was the horrendous mother of all traffic jams the damn freakin' hot weather. So, I was glad that we're spending it at the highland. The chilled air and the cool breeze made our day. At night, we had steamboat again as it was way too cold. We visited lots of places the following 2 days and had an absolute awesome time together with unexpected laughters, fightings and teasings.

The butterfly farm.

The stawberry fried icecream we had that Dad lined up 1/2 an hour for.
Awesome time together.

CNY reminds us of what's really important to us. It is also the time to reflect and be thankful for what we have. So thank you so much for I'm really blessed. =D
