#3.25 My Modern Family

Leisure afternoon stroll in Huntington Garden.

"In time, you will learn to make time for the ones that count, and let go the ones that don't."

Every single time I watched the ABC drama Modern Family, I couldn't help but think of my family. Like them, none one of us was perfect. Wherever we went, there would be a lot of quarrel, embarrassment and hassle, but I wouldn't ever, even for half a second, trade the whole wide world for them.

Same-age bro in Aussie.

It had been 3 months, give or take, since I had last seen them, except for the few Skype sessions that we had. And I sure as hell missed the home-cooked food by mummy. Every morning we would wake up to her lovely breakfast on the dining table. It was never just the simple bread and milk. She insisted on cooking something light and healthy like fried rice with all sorts of vegetables and nuts you could name arranged perfectly in the plates, just like how the good restaurants did it nowadays. They tasted as scrumptious as---if not, better than--- the ones in the restaurants. All of us would then literally wipe all the plates clean in seconds. Now, I was left with the choice of milk and cereal every morning. =(

Every weekend my parents would go grocery shopping, the part which I liked and hated at the same time. It was fun if you managed to find something you love at Target or Walmart but it would be as exciting as watching paint dry it you found nothing. The books were comparatively cheap too! My biggest regret was that I didn't grab a few more Nicholas Sparks books along the way. They were all at least 50% cheaper!! Now, these books' pricing at Malaysia was burning a hole in my pocket. *Sigh*

Despite the busy new life, we managed to squeeze some time out to visit a few places. Some of them were places I never thought I would actually get to go due to the limited time. We managed to finish all the fun important rides in Disneyland thanks to the help of our cousin. With the exception of the summer hot weather, everything was perfect. At night, we stayed to watch the Fantasmic and firework shows. It was like a moment frozen in time which I would cherish forever. While we're there, a few aunties from China approached us and chatted with us.

On the It's A Small Small World ride.
My everything. =)

I knew I had repeated 987654321 times but I truly missed them especially mummy. She simply gave and loved so much and it never failed to amaze me. Gonna stop here for now and go to bed with hopes to meet them in my dreams. =)

#3.24 Red Hot Fever

"Hot fever, Drama fever plus Monday fever. All in one. =(  "

Not in a million years would I believe that I would be starting my new semester with a fever. It was maddening, wasn't it? Just at the perfect timing when I felt like I was starting my life all over again and everything was perfect by my standards. Worse off, it seemed to come in a huge package together with sore and itchy throat, bad cough and runny nose. I had never hated anything more than a fever since university. Paradoxically, I would be smiling from ears to ears all day if I were in primary or high school, if you know what I meant. I couldn't order nice food that I had long craving for, I was not allowed to have cold drinks even in the crazily blazing hot weather, and most importantly, the constant unwell feeling in my head was killing me over and over again every second!!

Being 123456789 miles away from my family didn't help much. I missed each of them so much. If only  I knew how to teleport or orb or something, I could then save time and big big bucks of money. Then I could buy iPhones, iMacs and all the other i i iProducts!! How awesome would that be?

Luckily, I had all my smurfies around me cooking porridge, bringing me to the doc, giving me sore-throat medicine, reading lab manual and brewing Luo Han Guo tea for me or else I would die young and there would be one less handsome guy on earth. I wouldn't go on writing about how much I appreciated it and the 123456789 millions of thanks as according to Facebook best friends wouldn't do that but it was still heart-warming. ♥

One more sad news was that Desperate Housewives had come to its epic conclusion. Why did all my dramas end so quickly? Ok, 8 years were definitely not a short period. *Self-slap* But still......you knew what I meant. Where on earth would you find a drama packed with crime, mystery, funny plus mean lines, heart-warming moments and all the best characters that everyone could relate to? ABC kept canceling all my favorites like Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters!!!! Now I was left with Modern Family and Pretty Little Liars. But still...(again) they were nothing compared to the old ones.

Since I had nothing to watch on TV during the summer, I was left with the choice of HK dramas. Some of them were unexpectedly good but repeating them every day on AstroOnDemand could be super boring too at home.

4 words to sum it up: One of the kind.

Everyone Has A Dirty Laundry.

Lastly, I loved and hated Monday at the same time. It was the beginning of a week, so I should get the feeling of the start of something new. But it always turned out to be the most difficult day to go through. It seemed to have a magnetic force to draw all sorts of trouble. Absolutely everything loved to go wrong on Monday. My keys were lost (and found fortunately), my new bag got dirty on its very first day, my fever started and not to mention the whole day of lecture seemed to drag on forever and the you-know-who still taught at the speed of the snail's pace as my head was about to explode.

I was glad and relieved that the day was finally over at last. I hope I do not have to go through another day like this for a long, long time and Mr. New Semester would eventually treat me right. *praying hard* =)
